"this happens every year
but I'm never quite prepared
for the first snow, falling thick and slow
before the trees are bare
and we'll hide out in our houses
til we get used to the cold
and rum and coke and chimney smoke
make us bold"

Are there Thanksgiving songs? The lyrics above, by Grassmarket, is from one of my absolutely favorite songs and always makes me think Thanksgiving.
You can see a beautiful video here if you're feelin' it!

So, you know we're at the beach right now and, besides the porch, I really did minimal fall decorating. Here are some of the photos I shared on Instagram.
If you want to see our Quarters at Fort Meade last year you can check that out here. When I look back at those photos it seems like I'm looking at someone else's house.  (Well, technically, I guess it is someone else's house now!)

This rug came from Pier One, the Magnolia Homes Collection, I can't say enough about how much I love it!

Our children (who, admittedly, are adults) will be in 4 different time zones this year, which makes me very sad.  I've never spent a Thanksgiving without at least one of them.
None the less we are exceedingly blessed.
Keep those deployed in your heart this season. Pray for their safe return to those of us who miss them dearly.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I'm humbled that Quarters One will be a part of the 12 Days of Holiday Homes tour sponsored by Lynch Creek Farm and hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style.  Don't miss a day!!

With Gratitude, Shand
