We are a happily retired Army family living in North Carolina in a cottage on an island off the coast AND on the top of a mountain in a cabin over looking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Despite my lackluster blogging skills, I'm happy to be back again this year sharing our kitchen at Idlehour, our little mountain cabin!

I don't know about every where else but it's customary in the south to name your home!
Our beach house is called Lost Cay Cottage and the name Quarters One was the name of our home at Ft. Riley, KS which is where we were stationed when I started this blog.

| I have a life long habit of wanting to fill in empty spaces but I've been trying to adopt a life of simplicity and that's the look I was going for when decorating this kitchen. |

| My favorite little St. Nick purchased in Stuttgart, Germany when we were stationed there. He fills my heart with happy memories every year when I unwrap him! |

One of our three pups, Beatrice! My daughter found her on the highway two years ago and, despite my attempts to find her a home, she found her home with us.
And my new Ruggable (Kamran in Coral) I am a big fan of both the rug and the dog!

Foccacia from a local bakery, best I've ever had and I lived in Italy for four years!

| Christmas Crunch...melt a bag of white chocolate chips, fold melted chocolate into 1 1/2 cups of each of these ingredients and spread on wax paper to cool. |
